何かを素早く手でしっかりとつかむこと。物が動いたり逃げそうなときによく使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

やや硬い表現で、書き言葉によく使う。素早く・突然握る時に使う。かならず対象物が続く（例：「catch hold of my arm」＝「腕をつかむ」）。「grab」「seize」と近い意味。
