何かを行動や意見、決定の土台や根拠として使うこと。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

通常は「～に基づいて（basing on）」というふうに後ろに根拠を示す言葉が続く。「basis」（名詞）や「base」（名詞）と間違えないように注意。
