To start a line of text further from the margin than the others, usually to mark a new paragraph or section. It can also mean to form a notch or a space in something.
Uso & Nuances
Most often used for formatting text in documents: 'indent a paragraph', 'indented list'. In programming, 'indent' refers to spaces or tabs for code blocks. As a verb, less common outside technical/writing contexts. Not the same as 'intend'.
