「なぜ」の複数形で、物事の理由や説明を一般的・抽象的に指す表現です。

主に書き言葉やフォーマルな場面で使われ、日常会話ではほとんど使われません。「the whys and wherefores」のような表現で全ての理由を表します。

The teacher explained the whys of the experiment.
