Usar uma vara de arames ou utensílio semelhante para bater ou misturar ingredientes rapidamente, geralmente para incorporar ar e torná-los leves e fofos.

Principalmente usado na culinária, especialmente para ovos, natas e massas. Não é o mesmo que 'mexer' (movimento mais suave). 'Bater' sugere rapidez e entrada de ar nos ingredientes. Quase sempre termo culinário.
