船の舵を操作する部屋のこと。また、比喩的に、自分が得意とする分野や専門領域も指す。

比喩で「得意分野」「自分の専門」によく使われる。'in my wheelhouse'（得意なこと）、'outside my wheelhouse'（不得意なこと）の表現がある。日常会話よりビジネスや自己アピールで使われやすい。
