蝋のような見た目、または蝋でできているもののこと。不自然で青白い様子などに使われる表現です。

やや文学的・正式な表現。「waxen face」のように、青白く生気のない皮膚を表す場合に使われます。「wax」（ろう）や「waxy」（べたつく）とは区別します。
