"wave" in Portuguese (PT)
Definition
Uma onda é uma elevação da água que se desloca no mar, num lago ou noutra superfície. Como verbo, também significa mover a mão para cumprimentar, despedir-se ou chamar a atenção de alguém.

É comum tanto como substantivo como verbo. Para a água, em inglês usa-se muito 'big waves' ou 'a wave hit the boat'. Para o gesto, usa-se 'wave at someone' ou 'wave goodbye'. Não confundas com 'waive', que significa abdicar de um direito ou de uma regra.
