어떤 일이 일어나지 않으면 다른 일이 발생한다는 조건이나 예외를 나타내는 데 사용된다.

'Unless'는 부정 조건을 나타내며 'if...not'과 유사하게 쓰인다. 'unless' 후에 '안'이나 '않다' 같은 직접적인 부정은 쓰지 않는다. 규칙, 경고, 예외에 자주 사용된다.

You cannot go out unless you finish your homework.

숙제를 **하지 않으면** 밖에 나갈 수 없어.

The shop is closed on Sundays unless there is a special event.

특별한 행사가 **없으면** 가게는 일요일에 문을 닫는다.

I will not call you unless it is important.

중요하지 **않으면** 전화하지 않을게.
