যখন কারো শরীরের ওজন তার উচ্চতা ও বয়স অনুযায়ী স্বাভাবিক মানের চেয়ে কম থাকে।

এটি চিকিৎসা বা স্বাস্থ্যবিষয়ক কথাবার্তায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। "underweight children" বলতে অনাহারে ভোগা শিশু বোঝানো হয়। "thin" শুধুমাত্র চেহারা বোঝায়, যা অসুস্থতার নির্দেশ করে না।
