何かを信じている、特にそれが間違っていたり、情報が不十分な場合に使います。

会話や文章でよく使う表現です。多くの場合、後で間違ったことが判明したときに使われます。「～と思い込んでいた」の形で驚きや残念さを表せます。

I was under the impression that the meeting was at 10 o'clock.
