Definition

2つのチームがロープの両端を引っ張り合い、相手を線の向こう側に引っ張ろうとするゲーム。2つの勢力や意見が激しく争う様子にも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「綱引き」は運動会などでの競技のほか、意見や勢力がぶつかり合う比喩でも使う。「二つの間で綱引き」といった形で使われやすい。
