目標を達成するために行動することや、試しに何かをすることを指します。困難でストレスの多い状況や人を表すときにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

多くは現在進行形の動詞『try』として使われる。努力や「keep trying」（諦めないで）の表現、難しい状況を表すときに用いる（『trying day』など）。

彼女は英語を学ぼうと**試みています**。
