Un afluente es un río o arroyo más pequeño que desemboca en un río o lago más grande.

Se usa principalmente en contextos de geografía y naturaleza. Solo se refiere a cursos de agua naturales. No confundir con 'tributo'. Es común ver 'afluente principal', 'afluente del Nilo'.
