Definition

누군가에게 엄격하거나 단호하게 대하는 것. 주로 규칙, 벌, 혹은 훈육에 대해 말할 때 사용됨.

주로 사람이나 그룹을 대상으로 사용('tough on crime', 'tough on the kids'). 신체적 강함이 아닌 엄격함을 의미함. 긍정적(단호함) 또는 부정적(너무 엄함) 의미 모두 가능.

My teacher is tough on students who cheat.

우리 선생님은 부정행위를 한 학생들에게 **엄격하게** 대한다.

Parents should not be too tough on their children.
