扁桃腺は、のどの奥にある2つの小さな丸い組織で、体を感染から守る役割を持っています。

主に医療や健康に関する話題で使われます。「腫れた扁桃腺」「扁桃腺摘出（手術）」などの表現がよく使われます。通常は複数形（扁桃腺：両方）だが、1つの場合もあります。「アデノイド」とは異なる部分です。
