「暫停」是指從一項活動中暫時休息、冷靜或反思一下。也可以指對孩子短暫隔離作為懲罰的一種方式。

在運動中，「暫停」是正式的休息時間。教育小孩時，是常用的懲罰方式。也可口語用於任何短暫休息。請勿和計算機系統的 “timeout” 混淆。
