‘과거’나 ‘고대’를 시적으로 표현하거나 옛날식으로 말하는 방식. 종종 향수나 전통의 의미가 담겨 있다.

매우 문학적이고 시적인 표현으로, 일상 대화에서는 거의 쓰지 않음. 주로 이야기, 전설, 공식 연설에서 볼 수 있음. 일상적·현대적 표현이 아님.
