Definition

बड़ी लकड़ी की चौकोर या लंबी पट्टियाँ जो घर, जहाज या पुल जैसी संरचनाओं के निर्माण में इस्तेमाल होती हैं। "timbers" एकाधिक मुख्य लकड़ी के तख्तों के लिए बोला जाता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

अक्सर बहुवचन में इस्तेमाल होता है; यह संरचनात्मक लकड़ी है, सामान्य लकड़ी नहीं। इमारत या जहाज निर्माण में आम: 'supporting timbers' ('सपोर्टिंग टिम्बर्स'), 'oak timbers' ('ओक टिम्बर्स')। 'lumber' या 'timber!' शोर से न भ्रमित करें।
