雷のような大きくて深い音を出すこと。人が力強く大声で叫ぶ様子にも使われます。

天候や機械、または人が強く大声で怒鳴る場面でよく使われます。「怒鳴った」よりも劇的な印象があります。物語や文章で効果的です。
