何かや誰かを素早く強く前に押し出すこと。または自分や物を勢いよく前進させること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

文字通り（身体の動き）にも比喩的（考え、進歩など）にも使われます。ややフォーマルで、日常会話より物語や描写でよく使われます。'thrust forward his hand'のように物と結びつきやすい。'push'より固い表現。
