ऐसा कृत्य जिसमें कोई व्यक्ति चुपचाप और बिना हिंसा के किसी की चीज़ चुरा लेता है; 'thefts' अनेक चोरियों के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

ज़्यादातर 'report' (रिपोर्ट करना), 'prevent' (रोकना), और 'cases of' (चोरी के मामले) के साथ उपयोग होता है। 'Theft' यानी बिना हिंसा के चोरी; 'robbery' में हिंसा होती है। 'Burglary' मतलब घर में घुसकर चोरी करना—इन्हें न मिलाएँ।
