"take pity" in Spanish

Sentir lástima por alguien y querer ayudarle o ser amable porque está sufriendo o en una situación difícil.
Usage Notes (Spanish)
Se usa cuando alguien muestra compasión, normalmente tras ver sufrimiento. Suele decirse 'take pity on (someone)'. Tiene un tono algo formal o literario; en la conversación diaria, es más común 'feel sorry for'. No se usa en situaciones ligeras o en broma.
