根拠のない恐れや魔法的な考え方から生まれる信仰や習慣で、例えば鏡を割ると不幸が訪れると信じることなど。

通常は複数形で使います。「believe in」「have」「follow」といった動詞とよく組み合わされます。文化的な伝統と関係があり、宗教的信念とは異なります。カジュアルな場面で使われることが多いです。
