Definition

কারো পরে কোন পদ, অফিস বা উপাধি গ্রহণ করা, সাধারণত উত্তরাধিকার বা আনুষ্ঠানিক নিয়ম অনুযায়ী।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

এটি আনুষ্ঠানিক এবং আইনী, ঐতিহাসিক প্রেক্ষাপটে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেমন ‘succeed to the throne’। 'succeed in' (সফল হওয়া)-এর সাথে গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না। সাধারণত 'the throne', 'the presidency' ইত্যাদির পরে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
