“Substitutes” son personas o cosas que reemplazan a otras, a menudo usadas cuando algo o alguien no está disponible. Puede referirse a jugadores suplentes, materiales o reemplazos.

Usado mucho en deportes para jugadores suplentes y en la vida diaria para productos alternativos. Como sustantivo ('los substitutes') o verbo ('to substitute'). Se usa normalmente como 'substitutes for' algo. No es igual que 'alternatives', que no siempre reemplazan directamente.
