'Stogie' genellikle samimi ya da argo konuşmalarda kullanılır. Genelde kalın ve ucuz purolar için söylenir ve resmî yazışmalarda tercih edilmez; bunun yerine 'puro' denir. 'light up a stogie' veya 'chewing on a stogie' gibi kalıplar yaygındır.
