شيء يجعل شيئاً أو شخصاً يتوقف عن الاهتزاز أو يصبح أكثر توازناً وأماناً.

تستخدم غالباً كصفة أو اسم فاعل. شائعة في عبارات مثل "a steadying hand" بمعنى يد تثبت أو تهدّئ. يستعمل عند تقديم الدعم أو التوازن لشخص أو شيء.
