권위자나 힘 있는 사람에게 굴복하지 않고 용기 있게 맞서는 것. 자신의 의견이나 신념을 지키기 위해 저항하는 의미도 있다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

'맞서다'는 주로 권위자, 갑질, 집단 따돌림 등에 쓴다. 단순히 일어서는 것과 달리 용기와 행동을 내포한다. 'stand up'과 혼동하지 말 것.
