Stairwell é o espaço vertical dentro de um edifício onde fica a escadaria, habitualmente rodeado de paredes.

'Stairwell' aplica-se geralmente ao espaço das escadas em prédios grandes, não para escadas pequenas de casas. Frequentemente em instruções de segurança ('Use o stairwell em caso de incêndio') ou arquitetura. Não confundir com 'staircase', que são apenas os degraus.
