जो न तो गतिशील है, न ही प्रवाहित होता है और न ही प्रगति करता है; आमतौर पर ऐसी जलधारा या स्थिति के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है जिसमें कोई बदलाव नहीं होता।

'Stagnant' आमतौर पर स्थिर या रुकी हुई जलधारा, अर्थव्यवस्था या स्थिति के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है। औपचारिक या अर्ध-औपचारिक है। आम संयोजन: 'stagnant water', 'stagnant economy'। 'static' (सिर्फ न चलना) से न मिलाएँ।
