विभिन्न दिशाओं में फैलता है और बड़ा क्षेत्र घेर लेता है, या लोगों के बीच बढ़ता है। यह किसी सतह पर कोई परत लगाने के लिए भी इस्तेमाल होता है।

"Spreads" 'spread' की तीसरी व्यक्ति एकवचन रूप है। इसका उपयोग समाचार, बीमारी, आग, मक्खन या अफवाहों के लिए किया जाता है। आमतौर पर "spreads quickly" या "spreads like wildfire" के साथ आता है। इसे संज्ञा "spread" से न भूलें (जैसे पार्टी में कई तरह का खाना)।
