Definition

宇宙船や飛行機などが空中から水面に着地すること。ものが水にバシャッと落ちる時にも使われることがある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'the capsule will splash down in the ocean'のように宇宙や航空の文脈でよく使われます。遊び心を持って他の物が水に落ちる時にも使えます。普通の水泳や飛び込みには使いません。
