「spelt」は「spell」の過去形・過去分詞で、単語の文字を正しく並べて書いたり読んだりすることです。主にイギリス英語で使われます。

イギリス英語では「spelt」、アメリカ英語では「spelled」が一般的です。「spelt」（スペルト小麦）という名詞と混同しないよう注意。
