Genelde resmi, teknik metinlerde, talimat ve sözleşmelerde kullanılır. 'specifies that', 'the law specifies', 'specifies requirements' gibi kalıplarla çok sık geçer. 'describes' ya da 'mentions' ile karıştırılmamalı.
