Definition

壁の小さな穴やひび割れを埋めるために使う専用のペースト。または、そのペーストを塗る作業も指す。

主にアメリカ英語で使われ、イギリスやオーストラリアでは「filler」や「polyfilla」と言われます。名詞（パテ）にも動詞（パテを塗る）にも使われます。大きな修理には使いません。

Use spackle to fill the holes in the wall before painting.

壁の穴は塗装する前に**パテ**で埋めてください。

He bought some spackle from the hardware store.
