スープやソースに浸したパンの一切れ。または、相手をなだめるために与える形だけのものやその場しのぎの対応。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
パンの意味は日常会話ではあまり使われず、主に文学的。なだめる意味では、十分でない・形だけの対応によく使う。'a political sop'は「形ばかりの譲歩」などと訳される。
