Definition

액체의 표면에서 얇은 층을 조심스럽게 걷어내다(예: 우유 위의 크림); 또는 비밀리에 돈의 일부를 빼돌리다(종종 부정직함).

주로 구어체임. 요리(국물, 우유 등)와 비유적(돈 빼돌림) 모두에 사용. 'skim cream off', 'skim off profits' 등의 표현이 흔함. 단독 'skim'(대충 읽다)과 혼동하지 말 것.

Please skim off the fat from the top of the soup.
