Definition

여러 사람이나 대상 중에서 한 명이나 한 가지를 특별히 뽑아서 주목하거나 다루는 것. 긍정적이거나 부정적인 상황 모두에 사용됨.

대상을 긍정적이거나 부정적으로 돋보이게 할 때 사용함. 'single out for praise/criticism'와 같이 쓰며, 일반적인 '선택하다'보다 공식적인 느낌.

The teacher singled out Maria for her excellent work.

선생님이 마리아를 뛰어난 작업으로 **지목했다**.
