'শায়ার' বলতে ইংল্যান্ডে এবং কিছু সময়ে স্কটল্যান্ডে প্রচলিত বৃহৎ ঐতিহাসিক প্রশাসনিক অঞ্চল বোঝায়, যা সাধারণত জেলা (কাউন্টি)-এর মত।

'Shires' শব্দটি প্রধানত ব্রিটিশ ইংরেজিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণত নামের শেষে যেমন 'ইয়র্কশায়ার', কিংবা ইংল্যান্ডের গ্রামীণ অংশ বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
