誰かや何かに向かって進む、または攻撃すること。人や動物に攻撃させる時にも使う。場所や目標に近づくときにも使う。

やや形式的・文語表現。主に動物に使うことが多い（“set the dog onto…”）。“set out to”や“set on”と混同しないよう注意。
