Çavuşlar, askerî veya polis teşkilatında orta rütbeye sahip olan ve alt rütbeli kişileri yöneten görevlilerdir.
Usage Notes (Turkish)
‘sergeants’, ‘sergeant’in çoğuludur. Hem askerîde hem de poliste kullanılır. Konuşmada isim önüne unvan olarak da gelir ('Çavuş Yılmaz'). 'officer' (daha üst rütbe) ve 'private' (daha alt rütbe) ile karıştırmayın.
