Definition

সার্ফরা ছিল মধ্যযুগীয় ইউরোপে এমন কৃষিশ্রমিক, যারা জমিদারের জমিতে বাধ্যতামূলকভাবে কাজ করত এবং ইচ্ছামতো ছাড়তে পারত না। তাদের স্বাধিকার খুবই সীমিত ছিল।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

'Serf' শব্দটি কেবল মধ্যযুগীয় ইউরোপের ফিউডাল ব্যবস্থার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'Slaves' এর সঙ্গে গুলিয়ে ফেলা ঠিক নয়; সার্ফ-রা মালিকানাধীন ছিল না বরং জমির সাথে বাধা ছিল। সাধারণত ইতিহাস চর্চায় বহু সংখ্যায় (plural) ব্যবহৃত হয়।
