공기나 액체 등이 들어오거나 나가지 못하도록 단단히 닫힌 상태. 공식적으로 봉인하거나 도장이 찍혀 있는 상태를 의미하기도 함.

패키지, 문, 봉투, 방 등에 자주 사용됨. 'closed'보다 더 단단하고 공식적으로 닫힌 느낌. 법적·공식 서류에서는 대중이 볼 수 없다는 뜻도 있음.

The jar is sealed, so the food stays fresh.

병이 **봉인되어 있어서** 음식이 신선하게 보관됩니다.
