Definition

何か（弾丸やボールなど）が硬い表面に当たって、別の方向に跳ね返ること。また、その跳ね返る動きを指すこともある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に弾丸や硬い物体に使われる。「the bullet ricocheted」は「弾丸が跳弾した」という意味。柔らかく跳ねる場合には使わない。

Examples

The ball ricocheted off the wall.

ボールが壁に当たって**跳ね返った**。

The bullet ricocheted and hit the car.
