物事が増えたり自由に動くのをコントロールしたり制限したりすること。主にルールや枠を設けて制限する意味です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にフォーマルまたはセミフォーマルな場面で使われます。'restricts access'や'restricts movement'など「制限する」という決まり文句とよく使われます。「完全に禁止する」意味ではなく、範囲を限るニュアンスです。
