Definition

摂政は、君主が幼い、いない、もしくは統治できない場合に、他の人が国を統治する期間やその制度を指します。また、特定の時代や芸術様式の名称としても使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に歴史的・格式的な場面で使われ、「Regency period」はイギリス初期19世紀を指します。「Regency style」はその時代の美術や家具様式です。他の似た発音の単語（regimentやregulation）と混同しないよう注意。
