국민이나 공동체의 사람들이 특정 이슈나 법안에 대해 직접 투표로 결정하는 제도입니다.

정치적으로 격식 있는 표현이며, 사람을 뽑는 선거와 달리 중요한 사안에 대해 직접 투표할 때 사용합니다. 'referendum을 실시하다', 'referendum을 요구하다', 'referendum에서 투표하다' 등으로 씁니다.
