편지, 선물, 메시지 등 무언가를 받거나 전달받는 것. 공식적으로 누군가를 맞이하거나, 감정이나 정보를 받아들이는 경우에도 쓰인다.

'Receives'는 3인칭 단수형으로 '편지를 받는다', '상을 받는다', '손님을 맞이한다' 등에서 사용. 스포츠에서 물리적으로 잡는 것은 'catch' 사용.
