강압이나 협박이 아닌 논리적인 설명이나 이유로 상대의 생각이나 행동을 바꾸려 하는 것.

상대가 고집부리거나 화가 났을 때 자주 쓰이고, 비교적 격식 있는 표현입니다. 'argue with'보다 대립적이지 않습니다.
